5 Things to Do on a Family Break in Derry this Summer!

The school holidays are almost here and there’s never been a better time to plan your family break in the Walled City!

Here’s just five of the many things to do in Derry~Londonderry and nearby that are perfect for a family trip:

1. Take a guided tour

2. Visit the local aquarium

After an extensive renovation, Riverwatch Aquarium re-opens it’s doors on 8 June and is a must do for families and visitors! Watch the fish swim about the tanks and learn about our local wildlife. They have lobster, crabs, starfish, coalfish, and lots of other marine and freshwater fish and shellfish. There are free activity packs to keep the kids entertained too!

Major shopping centres are just a few steps apart from each other, and there’s an abundance of independent craft stores where you’ll find the perfect souvenirs for your friends and family! Foyleside Shopping Centre has also just opened a brand new ‘Smiggle’ store, the ultimate creators of colourful, fun, fashion-forward stationery!

There’s both outdoor and indoor activity centres in Derry to keep the family entertained for hours, such as the exciting circuit at Campsie Karting – professionally designed to incorporate a number of fast straights, technical corners, and a chicane that, if you get it right, can save you up to 2 seconds per lap!
