21 June – Membership Engagement Event


We hosted a fantastic membership engagement event at The Everglades Hotel on 21 June. The event included an information session by guest speaker, Geraldine Egan –Industry Liaison Officer | Tourism Ireland, who talked to Visit Derry members about the various marketing opportunities available with Tourism Ireland. Our next member engagement event takes place next week on 19 July, during which we will be visiting several tourism products within the County. This is a FREE opportunity as part of your membership with Visit Derry to familiarise yourself with our other members, and provides a great opportunity to network with other tourism businesses! Familiarisation Trips


We welcomed several bloggers to the city this month, including Northern Ireland’s very own Johnny Ward (, who has over 76,000 Instagram followers, as well as Josh Henry ( We also welcomed a group of eight travel bloggers from the UK to the city on 1st July and they spent the night at the City Hotel. The group was organised by Tourism NI, and included The Travel Hack, Pip and the City, Kimou, The World in My Pocket, Herald Glasgow, Munchies and Munchkins, Scouse Bird Problems, and PC Agency. The feedback from the group has all been very positive, keep an eye out on our Facebook page where we’ll be sharing any of the blogs they write about the city!

6-9 July – Dubai Duty Free Irish Open 2017


The Visit Derry team attended the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open 2017 last week with Tourism NI. It was a great opportunity to talk to visitors about using Derry’s convenient location as an ideal place to stay for golfing breaks!



We were delighted to welcome over 1,000 cruise passengers from the Silver Wind and Adonia cruise ships to the shores of Lough Foyle this month! Ship spotters, keep an eye out for the MS Deutschland on its Maiden Call to the city arriving to Lisahally on 21st July!

Visit Derry also hosted cruise ground handlers ‘Waterford Cruises’ on two days of site visits as they explored the city to develop an exciting new range of 2019 shore excursion itineraries!

Business Tourism


It was a busy month for the business tourism team as we hosted GB based agency Trinity Conferences, visiting 20 venues over three days to showcase the fantastic product we have on offer! Next stop was Manchester where we attended Tourism Ireland’s ‘Ireland Meets the North of England’ for over 20 appointments with top GB conference agencies. We also welcomed the conference delegates who thoroughly enjoyed their 5 day stay in the city!
