19 July – Member Engagement Event – County Derry Familiarisation
On 19 July, we held an exciting member engagement event in which we visited various properties in Mid-Ulster that are members of Visit Derry! After meeting at the Visitor Information Centre to catch the bus Translink so kindly provided for the day, we made our way to The Ponderosa – Ireland’s Highest Pub – for breakfast. Following this, we started on our journey to Seamus Heaney Homeplace in Bellaghy, giving our members a chance to check out this wonderful new tourism experience dedicated to the life and works of poet and Nobel Laureate, Seamus Heaney. Next on our stop was Ardtara Country House for a delicious lunch and site visit of the elegant Victorian property. Last on our stop before returning to the city was Walsh’s Hotel in Maghera, where we were shown around the cosy bedrooms and hotel facilities before being treated to afternoon tea and coffee. We also heard from Hugh McCloy from Jungle NI about the exciting packages available for leisure and corporate groups at the award-winning adventure park.
Thanks to all of our members in the Mid-Ulster area for hosting us on the day, and thanks to all the members who took time out of their busy schedules to join us. We hope you had a great time!
