Summer is over, but that shouldn’t stop you having fun! There’s plenty of exciting events happening this month in the Walled City of Derry to beat the back-to-school blues, here’s just a few of them:
Maiden City Ink | 1-3 SeptemberEVENT DATE HAS PASSED Maiden City Ink takes over the Everglades Hotel starting 1 September! The biggest tattoo convention in Northern Ireland presents the perfect opportunity to get inked by award winning artists from all over the globe. Derry Walls Day | 9 September
As part of the European Heritage Open Days weekend, the Friends of the Derry Walls have organised an exciting day of events including a sketching and history tour, a ‘Stone, Brick and Mortar’ tour, and a fantastic treasure hunt around the city walls, featuring appearances from some intriguing characters from the past! European Heritage Open Days | 9-10 September
Northern Ireland’s answer of the European celebration of cultural heritage initiative, takes place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September 2017. During these days, admission to selected attractions and tours will be completely free! A historical walking tour will depart from the Visit Derry Visitor Information Centre on Foyle Street at 15:00 on both dates. See our Event Listings page for details of participating venues
Carnival of Colours | 9-10 September
The Northwest’s Greatest Circus, Arts and Music festival returns to Saint Columb’s Park this year from 9-10 September. Come along for two action packed days of circus performances, music, comedy, food, drink and fun! What more could you ask for? See more information here
Sperrin and Killeter Walking Festival | 16-17 September
The annual Sperrins & Killeter Walking Festival invites all ages and abilities to get outside and explore the beauty, history and heritage of the Sperrins and Killeter regions. Walks are available at a variety of levels including easy strolls (perfect for families and budding nature photographers), moderate treks and challenging hill walks across some of the country’s most dazzling landscapes. Culture Night | 22 September
Over the last few years, Culture Night has become one of the highlights of the city’s events calendar. It is the evening each year when arts and cultural organisations throughout Ireland open their doors to the public with special or extended night time events, all offered free of charge. Slow Adventure Weekend | 23-24 September
Derry City and Strabane District Council is getting ready to host it’s first ever ‘Slow Adventure Weekend’ this month – a brand new adventure concept favouring slow, immersive experiences that engage with remote, wild and nature-rich places.
